House System

Tobermory High School House System

The House System is a traditional feature of the school which aims to encourage a sense of pride and achievement for the students. It fosters community spirit and allows social interaction at all levels, including staff who are also assigned to a house.

The House System at Tobermory High School encourages students to invest in the 'life' of our school; by encouraging a culture and ethos of ownership our students continue to excel in academic work and wider achievement.

Senior House Captains are elected every year and they are involved in the leadership of their house, taking on a pastoral role for the younger children and being a positive role model. The system allows success to be recorded and rewarded and helps teach students the value of teamwork.

House System

At the very start of S1, pupils are put into one of three houses; Ulva, Staffa or Iona. Students who have previously had a parent or sibling in a particular house will be allocated to the same house. At the end of the year, the House Cup is awarded to the house with the most house points. House points are awarded throughout the year for activities such as inter-house sport tournaments, the Mòd, language events and Pi day to name a few.
