Within Curriculum for Excellence literacy is defined as:

“the set of skills which allow an individual to engage fully in society and in learning, through the different forms of language, and the range of texts, which society values and finds useful.”

We will develop literacy skills across all curricular areas ensuring that our pupils develop their skills in reading, writing, talking and listening.  Learners with specific learning needs will be identified and supported in the development of their literacy skills in consultation with support staff.
