Thank you so much to all of our guests for joining us from near and far, and particular thank you to our DYW Co-ordinator, PJ, for all her hard work in organising the day.

Sabhal Mòr Ostaig Trip - 23 August 2023

An t-seachdain-seo chaidh, chaidh cuid de na sgoilearan Gàidhlig againn air turas gu Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, a’ cholaiste Ghàidhlig san Eilean Sgitheanach, airson Latha Fosgailte. Chaidh na sgoilearan a thoirt air turas timcheall na colaiste agus fhuair iad a-mach mu na cùrsaichean agus na cothroman eile a tha aig a’ cholaiste ri thabhann. Ghabh iad pàirt cuideachd ann am blasad clas agus farpais-cheist. B’ e deagh chothrom a bha seo airson na sgoilearan iad fhèin a bhogadh ann an coimhearsnachd Ghàidhlig.

Last week, some of our Gàidhlig pupils went on a trip to Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, the Gaelic college on Skye, for an Open Day. The pupils were taken on a tour of the college and found out all about the courses and other opportunities that the college has to offer. They also took part in a taster class and a quiz. This was a great chance for the pupils to immerse themselves in a Gaelic community.

Community Achievement Nominations

This year in Tobermory High School we have been developing new systems to celebrate the achievements of our pupils. Thus far we have designed and implemented a whole school approach to allocate house points from Primary through to Secondary for a variety of inclusive awards.

As we approach the end of the year we would like to offer our community members the opportunity to give feedback when you are aware of any positive achievements from our pupils. This can be done through the attached form.

The form can be used by members of the community to submit Achievement Nominations for pupils that attend Tobermory High School. Our pupils, who work hard to contribute to the community through the giving of their time and effort, deserve to have their achievements celebrated. Please give us some details below about the pupils so that we can recognise their efforts within the school and assign house points.

Sportive Success!

Congratulations to Murdo Morrison in S3 who set a new record time of 2hours 16minutes for the 70km Mull Sportive last Sunday. He smashed the previous record by 9minutes!  Well done Murdo!

Long Jump Pit

We are so lucky to have a new long jump pit at school!

A huge thank you to Ian Elwis and the council for digging the pit and to Lochaline mine for the large sand donation. Also to John MacDonald for transporting it to school and to TSL for supplying the tonne bags for transportation.

All could not be possible without the support from our headteacher, janitor, school office and staff who have worked tirelessly to get this organised over the past month.

Today, the biggest thanks goes to the S1 and S5/6 PE classes who helped fill the pit. It’s looking fantastic!
