The Tobermory High School Duke of Edinburgh Award Group is continuing to grow and making great progress. We currently offer the Bronze and Silver Award levels and pupils are making good headway with their physical, skill and service activities which they record their progress with online in eDofE.

This year we have 3 Bronze groups and 2 Silver groups that are preparing for this year’s expeditions starting in May.

Last year we ran two Bronze expedition on Mull with the weather proving challenging on the first one with very wet and windy conditions. Participants showed real resilience and camaraderie to not only complete their expedition but really relish the challenge and the experience of being in some incredible wild outdoors.

The Award is open to all between the age of 14 and 25. At THS we are proud to offer all S3 students the chance to do their Bronze Award as part of the curriculum.

Those that complete it can then go on to do their Silver Award in S4 as part of the curriculum. We hope to be able to offer the Gold Award to pupils in S5-6 if there is demand in the future.

Pupils who miss out on doing their Bronze Award can start the DofE at Silver but they have to carry out their service, skill and physical activity for longer.

For those that do embark on the DofE journey, participation illustrates their tenacity and commitment as well as further opportunity to develop the THS values of respect, confidence, resilience, creativity, and collaboration.

For any questions on Tobermory High School's participation please contact our DofE coordinator, Mr Marks, at the School.
